EVERYONE is invited to family day hosted by members of the Leigh Presbyterian Church.<\/p>\n
The Spring Festival will take place at the Teesdale Presbyterian Church on Saturday, 29 October.<\/p>\n
Pastor, Reverend Surendra Wesley, said the event will be full of fun and entertainment for the broader community.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re taking an initiative to… do something for the community,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019ll have face-painting, bouncy castles, games for the kids and adults, and a sausage sizzle.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s about trying to involve the community and getting to know people a bit better.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have three churches combined between the Shelford, Teesdale and Inverleigh churches, and so this is a combined program for these communities and anybody else who wants to come along.\u201d<\/p>\n
The organising committee is made up of 13 people from the three congregations.<\/p>\n
The upcoming event will be the church\u2019s second community festival following their inaugural offering at Inverleigh in September last year.<\/p>\n
About 70 people attended last year\u2019s event and Mr Wesley said their aim is to make it a regular occurrence.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur hope and plan is that we can continue to do this sort of thing where community members can come together and build relationships,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnybody can come, of course, but this is focused especially on Teesdale, Inverleigh and Shelford, all these smaller communities.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s designed for these close-knit communities and it\u2019s good to have people knowing each other and to be able to work together.\u201d<\/p>\n
Entry to The Spring Festival is by gold coin donation, and it will run from 11am to 1pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
