AN overhaul is on the way for the Lethbridge Recreation Reserve play space with funding from the State Government.<\/p>\n
Upgrades are set to include new lighting, furniture, paths, landscape work and updates to the existing play equipment.<\/p>\n
The funding worth $200,000 will come from the State Government\u2019s Living Local Fund.<\/p>\n
Member for Buninyong, and the Labor candidate for Eureka, Michaela Settle announced the support on Tuesday and said the updates will make the play area more modern for the community.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Living Local Fund really is about trying to build communities through community spaces. I think that says everything in what I hope this would be,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cObviously the playground\u2019s been here a while but it\u2019s really to expand that, to modernise it, put in some walking paths and really make it a centre of the community.\u201d<\/p>\n
The State Government\u2019s figure is being matched by the Golden Plains Shire, which will bring the project\u2019s total cost to $400,000.<\/p>\n
The municipality is set to engage the community to offer their feedback in the design of the upgraded play space.<\/p>\n
Golden Plains Shire mayor Cr Gavin Gamble said the project has been driven by the community for the community.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis will create a place for young people across the south of Golden Plains Shire, helping them stay active and engaged,\u201d he said<\/p>\n
