BANNOCKBURN Cemetery Trust has received funding support Bannockburn and District Grants.<\/p>\n
The nearly $6600 boost has covered the installation of signage, and gardening works on site.<\/p>\n
Bannockburn Cemetery Trust member Mellissa Gillett said the projects have made the grounds more pleasant to visit.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s certainly improved the aesthetic of the cemetery and the people visiting get to enjoy all these extra features,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s wonderful to receive this support because it allows us to carry out our projects that we might have had earmarked for a while.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese additions are making the cemetery a really beautiful place to visit for families and for our local community who might go down for a walk around the area.\u201d<\/p>\n
Two signs, one for the entrance and another for rules and regulations, were installed earlier this year. Additional works included steel edging around three garden beds.<\/p>\n
Since 2007, Bannockburn and District Grants has provided more than $700,000 to community groups in the area.<\/p>\n
Support from the Bendigo Bank Bannockburn previously contributed to a fencing project for the cemetery.<\/p>\n
The Bannockburn Cemetery Trust has about seven members and Ms Gillett said the grant scheme is a great help to the community.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt means we can continue going ahead with our projects and it\u2019s not a dollar-for-dollar sort of thing,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Upcoming projects at the cemetery include the construction of an ashes wall, a water system extension, and information centre, to be based at the rotunda.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
