GOLDEN Plains Shire officers are in the process of updating the municipal domestic wastewater management plan and they want your feedback on the draft document.<\/p>\n
The plan looks at all wastewater not connected to the treated sewer system and was last updated in 2015.<\/p>\n
A rejig of the document is needed following changes to the state laws governing septic tanks.<\/p>\n
Most buildings in Golden Plains Shire use on site water treatment systems, better known as septic tanks, with only parts of Bannockburn, Smythesdale and Enfield connected to wider sewerage treatment systems.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe review of the domestic wastewater management plan will ensure it best meets the needs of the community and I strongly encourage all residents and relevant practitioners to have their say,\u201d said mayor Cr Gavin Gamble.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe domestic wastewater management plan guides the management of wastewater within the Shire including the management of on-site wastewater management systems, which currently service all households within the Shire outside of Bannockburn, Smythesdale and Enfield.\u201d<\/p>\n
The current draft of the plan is on show until 5pm on Monday, 21 November.<\/p>\n
Along with ratepayers, Cr Gamble welcomed feedback from those who work with septic tanks, like plumbers and property developers.<\/p>\n
The plan can be viewed by heading to the Shire\u2019s website or visiting a customer service centre. Information on how to provide feedback is also available from those locations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
