PAULINE Hanson\u2019s One Nation party has a local Western Victorian candidate seeking election in the upper house of State Parliament this month.<\/p>\n
Ross Creek\u2019s Terri Pryse-Smith is campaigning with a focus on better health and education, to protect farmers, to stop the AusNet transmission lines, and to broadly look after the vulnerable, poor, elderly, disabled, and veterans.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m an advocate for the whole transmission line system to be stopped through the whole top part of our region,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s going to destroy tourism, destroy the land, make the existing water infrastructure useless, threaten native animals and destroy habitat as it goes through the Wombat Forest, and split farms in two.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s shocking to desecrate that fertile farmland.\u201d<\/p>\n
She said the state\u2019s health system has been inadequate since before the pandemic.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe need to bolster the number of regional doctors, nurses, and other critical health care professionals back out into the rural and regional areas.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve still got people travelling from Hamilton, Portland, Geelong, driving miles away to go and have a scan or a test. It\u2019s simply not good enough,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cPauline Hanson has a contract to get newly qualified medical professionals out into the regions on a three-year contract, and in return, will pay their HECS loans in full.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll of the healthcare workers that were sacked by Dan Andrews need to be re-instated to receive full back pay and to be given their jobs back.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Pryse-Smith said a \u201cclean slate\u201d is needed for the education system.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe need to get rid of critical race and critical gender theory, we need to get back to the basics of reading, writing and arithmetic, and to Judeo Christian, liberal, western democratic values again,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re failing in NAPLAN, we\u2019re failing up against comparable education systems around the world. We\u2019ve got kids leaving high school who can\u2019t read and write. It\u2019s disgraceful.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Foreign Investment Review Board is also something Ms Pryse-Smith would like to see put under the spotlight.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnything to do with farming and farmland has to pass the Foreign Investment Review Board national interest test, and if it\u2019s not in the nation\u2019s best interest, it does not pass.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe AusNet towers should not have passed. It doesn\u2019t pass the pub test,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Ms Pryse-Smith said climate change is a \u201cPonzi\u201d and wealth redistribution scheme.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhy are we impoverishing our nation to go to renewables? We should be building more coal fired power stations so we can have clean, green, affordable energy, instead of buying into this renewables nonsense,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
