PEOPLE looking to use the water play area at Bannockburn Heart had to find another park to go to with the site recently closed for a week.<\/p>\n
The facilities were shut between Saturday, 3 and Saturday, 10 December due to a mechanical issue, which a representative of Golden Plains Shire said had not been previously apparent.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe issue arose due to a fault in the equipment related to chlorine dosing. This resulted in levels of chlorine above the system parameters,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe site was closed on Saturday afternoon after the issue was identified and couldn\u2019t be immediately rectified.<\/p>\n
\u201cImportantly, council had extensively tested all equipment prior to opening the splash park, and no issues were identified at that time.\u201d<\/p>\n
The site was opened in late 2019 as the first water play space in the region, set to be turned on every summer.<\/p>\n
It was delivered as part of the $3 million first stage development of Bannockburn Heart, funded between the municipality and State and Federal governments.<\/p>\n
With the site reopened over the weekend, Golden Plains Shire CEO, Eric Braslis said staff will be ready to address any future issues.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Bannockburn Heart\u2019s water play space reopened to the public at 9am, Saturday 10 December following electrical works to repair the fault in the equipment related to the chlorine dosing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe water play space has remained operational since reopening during operational hours.<\/p>\n
\u201cCouncil will continue to work to monitor and test the equipment with the aim to ensure the water play space at the Bannockburn Heart remains operational and open to the public.<\/p>\n
\u201cShould further issues arise, council has plans in place, and council staff on hand to respond accordingly.\u201d<\/p>\n
