{"id":86862,"date":"2022-12-23T04:45:32","date_gmt":"2022-12-22T17:45:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/?p=86862"},"modified":"2022-12-23T09:31:06","modified_gmt":"2022-12-22T22:31:06","slug":"miners-announce-two-early-names","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/sport\/miners-announce-two-early-names\/","title":{"rendered":"Miners announce two early names"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WHILE the start of the 2023 NBL1 South season is still months away, the hasn\u2019t stopped the Ballarat Miners from preparing their team sheets.<\/p>\n<p>Recently two key players have joined the club, including the return of WNBL journeywoman Abbey Wehrung.<\/p>\n<p>A product of the Basketball Ballarat system, the 1.78-metre-tall guard last played with the club in 2016 before heading off to spend time with WNBL teams Canberra Capitals, Adelaide Lightening and is currently plying her trade with the undefeated Bendigo Spirit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am super excited to be back with my junior club, close to home and family especially my new little niece, Bonnie,\u201d Wehrung said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am also excited to work with Bakes [Women\u2019s Head Coach Rob Baker] again and see what we can do.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRob has always instilled so much belief in me and my game since I was a junior, so I know he\u2019ll be wonderful for all the players as a head coach and I\u2019m super excited to see him flourish.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On the Men\u2019s bench Zac Dunmore inked his return for the 2023 season.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_86864\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-86864\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-86864\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2022\/12\/Zac-1-scaled-e1671676538419-300x211.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"211\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2022\/12\/Zac-1-scaled-e1671676538419-300x211.jpg 300w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2022\/12\/Zac-1-scaled-e1671676538419-768x541.jpg 768w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2022\/12\/Zac-1-scaled-e1671676538419-132x94.jpg 132w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2022\/12\/Zac-1-scaled-e1671676538419.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-86864\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Zac Dunmore is returning for another season.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A 185-centimetre guard, Dunmore hails from Ararat where he\u2019s been playing for the Redbacks in the Country Basketball League over summer and averaging 32 points a game.<\/p>\n<p>For the Miners last season he averaged a more sedate 6.77 points per game in limited playing time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlaying with Ararat Redback in the CBL has helped keep up my match fitness and in-game shooting reps,\u201d he Dunmore said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have been working hard on my individual skills and getting into the RAD gym as much as I can to get stronger and keep building muscle to help me compete with the bigger guys in the NBL1.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WHILE the start of the 2023 NBL1 South season is still months away, the hasn\u2019t stopped the Ballarat Miners from preparing their team sheets.
