FREE weekly justice of the peace services are available at Ballarat Hospice Care\u2019s Palliative Care Hub in Alfredton.<\/p>\n
JP Jenny Dare will be on site from 12pm to 1pm each Tuesday and community members can simply drop in for assistance.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnything that needs to be witnessed, or documents that need to be certified, can be certified by a JP,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s a whole heap of documents out there where people need to see someone to get their signature endorsed, or identification confirmed, and that\u2019s where I can help.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Dare is also a community engagement and admin volunteer with the hospice, and said she thought the hub would be an ideal place for a signing station.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur patients, their carers, and the general community can benefit,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The signing station can be particularly appropriate for hospice patients who might be seeking additional support from government services, or organising their power of attorney, and need documents certified.<\/p>\n
Ballarat Hospice Care\u2019s community engagement manager Michelle MacGillivray said the organisation also has more than 65 volunteers that need papers signed and certified from time-to-time.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey can use it too, alongside our own staff,\u201d she said. \u201cWe\u2019re also in the western part of Ballarat and there\u2019s nothing like this out here, so for Lucas and Alfredton, this is going to be convenient.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe vision for the Palliative Care Hub was always for it to be a community hub, for people to know about us, and use the space.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe welcome anyone to use the space, there\u2019s parking right out the front, and it\u2019s easily accessible. They might ask questions about palliative care while they\u2019re here, and we\u2019ve got information ready for them.\u201d<\/p>\n
