IF you enjoy pulling on your dancing shoes, then the next event from the Cape Clear, Illabarook and Rokewood Junction Community Committee is for you.<\/p>\n
People of all ages, from near and far, are invited to a Valentine\u2019s Day Family Bush Dance on Saturday, 11 February at the Cape Clear Recreation Reserve.<\/p>\n
Organiser Evelyn Cannon said the committee\u2019s aim is to deliver a fun, easy-going and accessible evening.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve got a local band coming, Duck N Weave, and a caller will be teaching dances and performing them, so people don\u2019t need to know the steps to come along, they\u2019ll learn them on the night,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere will be plenty of room for people to sit if they\u2019re not dancing, and we\u2019ve got a craft table for the kids to keep them entertained if they\u2019re not up and dancing.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll have some light refreshments and a sausage sizzle.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Cannon said locals requested an event of this kind at the Cape Clear Recreation Reserve bonfire last June.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had a handful of people from the community, and outside that came, who said they love this style of music and would love to have a bush dance.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re really responding to the community\u2019s wants, and we encourage people to give feedback about more events they would like to see,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The event will run from 5pm to 8pm, and entry is by gold coin donation. There\u2019ll also be a silent auction, with all funds going back to the committee.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
