{"id":87621,"date":"2023-02-21T04:55:45","date_gmt":"2023-02-20T17:55:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/?p=87621"},"modified":"2023-02-14T15:20:03","modified_gmt":"2023-02-14T04:20:03","slug":"second-swing-for-lachies-legacy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/news\/second-swing-for-lachies-legacy\/","title":{"rendered":"Second swing for Lachie\u2019s Legacy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MORE than forty teams of golfers took to the course last Sunday as part of the second annual Lachie\u2019s Legacy Ambrose golf fundraiser.<\/p>\n<p>The all-day tournament hosted by Mount Xavier Golf Club featured 164 players with the aim of raising money and donations for the organisation founded in honour of Dunnstown Football Club member Lachlan Poulter.<\/p>\n<p>Organiser Brendan Everard said the event is all about supporting the foundation that honours the life of a young man taken too soon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLast year, we raised close to $30,000. It\u2019s a fun, good day of social golf as well and a good strong form of connection for Lachie\u2019s Legacy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an Ambrose four-player format, so you hit a ball and you take your best after that. It\u2019s a shotgun start with 20 groups teeing off at 7.30am and then 21 teams at 12.30am.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have a few prizes on offer for things like best dressed, best team name, and best score. There\u2019s a raffle and auction going at the end of the day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lachlan Poulter died aged 25 after he collapsed following a Central Highlands Football League match between the Towners and Lakies at Learmonth in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>His family started the foundation that provides disadvantaged communities with sporting equipment and clothing shortly after his passing.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_87623\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-87623\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-87623\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2023\/02\/IMG_8442-scaled-e1676348371495-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2023\/02\/IMG_8442-scaled-e1676348371495-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2023\/02\/IMG_8442-scaled-e1676348371495-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2023\/02\/IMG_8442-scaled-e1676348371495-272x182.jpg 272w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2023\/02\/IMG_8442-scaled-e1676348371495.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-87623\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A photo board inside the clubrooms featured the individuals and communities that have received equipment from the Lachie\u2019s Legacy organisation.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Nola Poulter, Lachlan\u2019s mother, said the golf fundraiser is a huge draw for the organisation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis event means a lot of things to me,\u201d she said. \u201cWe were shattered when Lachie died but we\u2019re certainly healing with things like this.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to support kids to play sport like football and netball. This event is a great way to make want we want to do sustainable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor example, we\u2019ve supported a couple kids up in Nhulunbuy which is east Arnhem Land to play football in Darwin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s all about getting kids on the field.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MORE than forty teams of golfers took to the course last Sunday as part of the second annual Lachie\u2019s Legacy Ambrose golf fundraiser.
