STUDENTS, staff and parents will bring the community together this week as part of a school\u2019s first fete in four years.<\/p>\n
Next Friday evening will see the return of Buninyong Primary School\u2019s fete, with students helping by running stalls and activities.<\/p>\n
Principal Bernie Conlan said the involvement from the school\u2019s 30 classes is an important part of the event.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is where the community-building part of this comes in,\u201d he said. \u201cEvery class has got a responsibility including the kids, the parents and teachers.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe classes are running things like ten-pin bowling, biscuit decorating, mini-golf, a photo booth, and a mobile farm.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe try to have a mix of action as well as interesting stalls for kids and adults to visit.\u201d<\/p>\n
Thirty-three stalls will be manned between the school\u2019s Buninyong Primary and Scotsburn campus\u2019 students with about a dozen stalls expected from local traders.<\/p>\n
Food stall options include a barbecue, hot dogs, baked spuds, sushi and pulled pork rolls as well as a craft beer space run by one of the teachers.<\/p>\n
Raffle prizes will be on offer throughout the evening and Mr Conlan said the fete is about bringing the community together.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis sort of big event is always great for building community spirit around the school,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhenever we run events like this, people really come together and are really proud of what they\u2019ve achieved at the end of it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Funds raised during the event will go towards running the school\u2019s programs like the energy breakthrough and STEM delivery.<\/p>\n
The fete is rotated each year between a concert performance, with plans to hold one last year cancelled due to COVID concerns.<\/p>\n
Buninyong Primary School\u2019s fete will run on Friday, 3 March from 5pm to 8pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
