IT\u2019S time to get quacking on your plans for Sunday, 26 February.<\/p>\n
The Shelford Duck Race is back on the Leigh River by the Shelford Recreation Reserve from 11am to 4pm, and organiser Glenn Jeffery is encouraging community members to \u201cadopt\u201d a numbered rubber duck in the race.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou can pay $10 to sponsor a duck,\u201d he said. \u201cThis event is probably the main fundraising source the community has.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur community’s recently gone through our community planning process with the council\u2019s support. We have a list of projects that the community have prioritised, and some of them cost money.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe duck race\u2019s funds will support Shelford Primary School, Shelford Cricket Club and Shelford Progress Association so we can get stuck into those projects.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe first duck across the line will also win the raffle, and there is $2000 in prize money.\u201d<\/p>\n
There are plenty of market stallholders set to attend, including craft and food vendors and even a psychic medium.<\/p>\n
A Show \u2018N\u2019 Shine will put vintage and classic cars in the spotlight, children can meet animals at a mobile farm, ride the miniature railway, there will be music, carnival style entertainment, and demonstrations from the local CFA, SES, and scouts.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a cliche, but there\u2019s something for everyone, whether you want to watch the music with a beer or wander the craft stalls with an ice cream,\u201d Mr Jeffrey said.<\/p>\n
Mr Jeffrey encourages Shelford locals to get involved with the set up and pack down, and meet their neighbours.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s great to have locals out and about, and proud of their community, alongside visitors from out of town,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
