YOUNG people in the region are being offered the chance to try robotics with workshops held weekly at the Golden Plains youth hub, where young people can create and build with a range new technologies.<\/p>\n
The hub aims to engage and support people aged 12 to 25 in fun, meaningful and inclusive activities.<\/p>\n
Youth development officer Cassie Bush said she hopes the program will inspire the region\u2019s young people to get creative and work collaboratively.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe council decided to run this program to empower young people to do things themselves and have the opportunity to work with high-tech and low-tech equipment,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe hope young people can develop skills to work on stamina and learning through hands on activities and being part of a challenge.\u201d<\/p>\n
The sessions are conducted through Engage, a program which is designed to help youth learn new skills.<\/p>\n
Ms Bush said these sessions are just the start, and she hopes the program will evolve depending on young people\u2019s interests.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re wanting the program to lead to a space with options for young people like sensory activities, 3D printing and places they can develop STEM skills,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s definitely building at the moment, so we really want to work with young people in the region to evolve it according to their interests and meet the needs of young people in the shire.\u201d<\/p>\n
The sessions are held from 3.30pm to 6pm every Wednesday at the Youth Hub at Bannockburn.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
