A PROGRAM supported by the Victorian Health Promotion Foundation is coming to the area next week with the aim of getting kids interested in lacrosse.<\/p>\n
Hosted by Leisure Networks together with Lacrosse Victoria, the free initiative is set to run for four weeks at the Bannockburn YMCA.<\/p>\n
Each session will be led by Leisure Networks program coordinator Tori Honner, who said it\u2019ll be a good introduction to the sport.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019ll be four weeks of just having a go, learning the basics and having a bit of fun,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cVicHealth have funded a number of programs to give more opportunities to young people so on the back of that we\u2019re collaborating with Lacrosse Victoria to deliver this.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve been trained by Lacrosse Victoria to deliver these sessions. We\u2019ve advertised as open for everyone but we\u2019re wanting people under 18 to come give this a try.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis will be the first time this program is delivered in Golden Plains.\u201d<\/p>\n
The sessions are capped at 15 people and will run weekly from Tuesday, 7 March to Tuesday, 28 March from 3.45pm to 4.15pm.<\/p>\n
The program was first delivered between Leisure Networks and Lacrosse Victoria in Torquay in late 2021.<\/p>\n
All equipment will be provided.<\/p>\n
Ms Honner said the family-friendly program will bring lacrosse to the region.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019ll give the people of Bannockburn, the youth, the opportunity to try out lacrosse if they\u2019ve never had that opportunity before,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s also the community engagement side. It\u2019s another way to get active and meet some other new people.\u201d<\/p>\n
