EASTER activities are bounding into Rokewood once again with the return of a free annual event from backers of the Golden Plains Wind Farm, WestWind Energy.<\/p>\n
Taking place early next month, the event will be the third annual offering from the organisation, with engagement manager Matt Hustwaite saying it\u2019ll be a fun way to connect with the community.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a great chance for locals and the wider community of Golden Plains to come together and have a casual fun day,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve got an easter egg hunt, some live music, food and drink, and lots of activities for the kids.<\/p>\n
\u201cOf course, we\u2019re building the Golden Plains Wind Farm out there so it\u2019s a nice, fun way to connect with our community.\u201d<\/p>\n
Other attractions include facepainting, a visit from the Easter Bunny, a jumping castle with live music from Ballarat-based band After Five and a barbecue provided by members of the Rokewood CFA.<\/p>\n
The easter event will run from 11am to 2pm on Sunday, 2 April at the Rokewood Recreation Reserve.<\/p>\n
Last year\u2019s event saw more than 100 attendees, and Mr Hustwaite said he expects to see more people for the upcoming one.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s nice with our events that we\u2019re seeing more people come from a bit further afield in the Shire so it\u2019s lovely to be bringing people into Rokewood as well,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe actually had even more people at our last Christmas party a few months ago than what we had at our Easter event.\u201d<\/p>\n

WestWind Energy also offers regular community grants and has donated to Rokewood Primary School.<\/p>\n
The Golden Plains Wind Farm is expected to have 228 turbines on more than 16,000 hectares around Rokewood once construction is finished.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
