THE school community at St Mary MacKillop Bannockburn is getting ready for their annual Easter raffle run by the parents and friends committee.<\/p>\n
With prize hampers packed by committee members ranging up to $300, school principal Anthony Drill said it\u2019s always a bit of fun everyone involved.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis\u2019ll be a fun go for Easter-time and gathering some goodies for the parents to buy raffle tickets leading into our last assembly for the term,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve got chocolates of course, but also things like Easter-themed activity books, school supplies and some baskets from the hampers and crockery type items.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is probably one of our major fundraisers for the year and it\u2019s always a very successful first-term fundraiser for us at a low cost.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s lovely that the community gets behind this, and we often get a lot of people from outside the school community.\u201d<\/p>\n
Up to 10 prizes are on offer valued from $25 to $300, and Mr Drill said the raffle generally raises about $3000 each year.<\/p>\n
Entries will close on Wednesday, 5 May with the winning tickets to be drawn during the school\u2019s assembly the following Thursday.<\/p>\n
Mr Drill said this year\u2019s fundraiser will go towards securing new playground equipment.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe cost will be about $15,000 to $20,000 so this will make a bit of a dint into that amongst the other fundraising we\u2019ll be doing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have a different goal for every year. Through previous fundraisers we\u2019ve bought lots of Lego for our Lego club.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s also been some indoor play equipment and right now we\u2019re waiting on line marking for the playground which we got for about $11,000.\u201d<\/p>\n
