A FREE expo on all things donating your time is coming to Barkly Square.<\/p>\n

The Ballarat Volunteer Expo is an event where volunteer groups can meet and talk to people who are interested in giving their time.<\/p>\n

Organisations can network with other groups and promote awareness for the needs of the local community.<\/p>\n

The event is a partnership between the Ballarat Foundation and BGT Jobs and Training.<\/p>\n

Emma Hart, operations and facilities manager at BGT, said the event is particularly directed towards students, retires, and people who are looking for an introduction to volunteer work.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe exhibitors need to bring a passion for what they do, want to be there to encourage people to volunteer and have an enthusiastic approach,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a great chance for organisations to talk to attendees who are interested in donating their time to help out the Ballarat community.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy having a stall at the volunteer expo groups can reach a new audience to fill positions, help people contribute to our community, teach new skills and build confidence.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ms Hart said for those who attend it will be a great chance to build connections.<\/p>\n

\u201cAttendees will get to see a variety of different community and volunteer organisations under one roof and see all the opportunities there are available in the Ballarat community,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She said volunteering is a great way to help the community, expand relationships, make friends, build skills and reduce isolation.<\/p>\n
