MALU Hunt, who received life changing surgery at the Royal Children’s Hospital, will be one of many attendees at Inverleigh\u2019s Good Friday Appeal tomorrow.<\/p>\n
Malu started having seizures not long after his first birthday and tests revealed the right side of his brain was not developed properly.<\/p>\n
He would have up to 100 spasms a day.<\/p>\n
He was diagnosed with a rare type of epilepsy in children, and this resulted in surgery which disconnected the right half of his brain from his left at just 19-months old.<\/p>\n
\u201cRight from day dot the Children\u2019s Hospital was really amazing,\u201d said Malu\u2019s mother Erin Hunt.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey were very supportive and able to give us lots of information so we could educate ourselves.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re still supported in different ways by them now even though it\u2019s been two and a half years since his surgery.\u201d<\/p>\n
She said the work of the Good Friday Appeal has a real and important impact on local children.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think after Malu\u2019s surgery we saw the impact the Children\u2019s Hospital has on not just us but many families,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery year we\u2019d like to be a part of helping to give back because we know how important that money is, and we\u2019ve seen where it goes.<\/p>\n
\u201cWithout that money the hospital wouldn\u2019t have had the equipment or have done enough research to complete Malu\u2019s surgery so we\u2019re very grateful.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Hunt said she is excited to visit Inverleigh\u2019s appeal with all its activities and entertainment.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Inverleigh Family Fun Day is a great local event for the Geelong area and they have a great range of entertainment,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
