AN Autumn Night Festival is set to support the learning of Inverleigh Primary School students.<\/p>\n
School council members, including Kloe Woods, are hosting the Saturday night chic-themed evening of entertainment, food, and wine for parents and community members, aiming to generate financial support for IPS\u2019 developing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics program.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe school has a new STEM teacher, but no resources or classroom materials, so we\u2019re starting from scratch,\u201d Ms Woods said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re looking to raise over $8000 so we can purchase robots, coding equipment, and construction materials for the kids to have a really hands-on learning experience, and refurbish the room.\u201d<\/p>\n
The night is set to include live music, entertainment from a stand-up comedian, and a catered dinner, and it will be the first whole-school parent fundraiser following pandemic lockdowns.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a real focus on community engagement and socialising together all to fundraise for the kids,\u201d Ms Woods said.<\/p>\n
\u201cInverleigh is a small community, so post-COVID, getting parents to know each other is quite important, to strengthen that community involvement within the school, create that connection from home, to school, to the classroom, and support the kids in their learning.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s nice to provide an opportunity for the adults in the community to get together and have a fun night out.\u201d<\/p>\n
The event will be held at the Inverleigh Football and Netball Club rooms on Saturday, 29 April from 7pm.<\/p>\n
