{"id":89282,"date":"2023-04-28T04:56:48","date_gmt":"2023-04-27T18:56:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/?p=89282"},"modified":"2023-04-28T09:28:02","modified_gmt":"2023-04-27T23:28:02","slug":"huge-goal-kicked-for-female-footy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/sport\/huge-goal-kicked-for-female-footy\/","title":{"rendered":"Huge goal kicked for female footy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE first-ever senior women\u2019s team for one of the region\u2019s football and netball clubs took to the grounds over the weekend in their debut game.<\/p>\n<p>The opening match for Bannockburn Football Netball Club\u2019s senior women\u2019s team took place on Sunday afternoon, with players going up against Geelong Amateur Football and Netball Club Ammos on the Tigers\u2019 home ground at Victoria Park.<\/p>\n<p>Although the team didn\u2019t get a point throughout the game against Ammos\u2019 13.15 (93), BFNC female football coordinator Jodie Bukofsan said their energy far exceeded what was on the scoreboard.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey played fantastic for their first game,\u201d she said. \u201cThey played so much better than the score reflected.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey were so excited, so proud. It was an honour for the club to see it happen after so many years and it\u2019s set the pathway for the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ms Bukofsan said the next goal is to build an under 19s side to keep bridging the gap for female players.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-89285 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2023\/04\/061A7768-1-scaled-e1682484096532-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2023\/04\/061A7768-1-scaled-e1682484096532-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2023\/04\/061A7768-1-scaled-e1682484096532-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2023\/04\/061A7768-1-scaled-e1682484096532-272x182.jpg 272w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2023\/04\/061A7768-1-scaled-e1682484096532.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Tiger\u2019s captain Kirra Beckley said a highlight for on the day her was seeing the women take to the field for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe leadup certainly had a lot of emotion and feeling and fear,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe feeling of accomplishment and seeing them run out onto the ground for the first time was significant with our families being there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been about 145 years for the club and it was the first ever game for the senior women so being able to play at home and represent the club was pretty significant too.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE first-ever senior women\u2019s team for one of the region\u2019s football and netball clubs took to the grounds over the weekend in their debut game.
