AN upcoming production from a Ballarat-based playwright is set to have its premiere season next week.<\/p>\n
Marty MonStar\u2019s latest play The Wrong Horse is set to debut in Melbourne for five nights in Prahran, with ticket prices for Ballarat attendees dropping from $35 to $20.<\/p>\n
MonStar moved to Ballarat from Melbourne in March last year, and said the discounted tickets are his way of encouraging locals to come to the show.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople in Ballarat don\u2019t go to Melbourne, so I want the discount to encourage them to see one of Ballarat\u2019s creatives at work,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI keep getting asked when am I going to have a show in Ballarat? This is a bit of a teaser for them.\u201d<\/p>\n
The play is set in Melbourne and follows two bumbling career criminals Noddy and Big Ears and the disastrous consequences of their final job.<\/p>\n
A working playwright since 2019, MonStar said the play is all about kinship in the Australian tradition.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe main characters have a unique relationship,\u201d he said. \u201cThey get up to antics and make mistakes.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a comedy of errors but colloquially it\u2019s very Australian.\u201d<\/p>\n
MonStar\u2019s Ballarat debut is set to take place later this year with his monologue play My Father\u2019s Story to be performed at Ballarat Trades Hall as part of a regional tour.<\/p>\n
The Wrong Horse will run from Wednesday, 10 to Sunday, 14 May at the MC Showroom in Prahran<\/p>\n
