THE Pyrenees Art Exhibition is back for its sixteenth year and being held in the Beaufort Town Hall over the King\u2019s Birthday long weekend.<\/p>\n
The event run Pyrenees Arts Council alongside the Rotary Club of Beaufort will showcase a range of works from local artists and those further afield, who work on oil, watercolour, acrylic, pastel and mixed media.<\/p>\n
There will also a section dedicated to works about the theme \u2018fire and flood.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s the main art event for the area,\u201d said member of the Pyrenees Arts Council, Angela Gerrard.<\/p>\n
\u201cLast year there were 400 entries of a really high standard and they\u2019re from across Australia.\u201d<\/p>\n
Opening night will be on from 7.30pm on Friday, 9 June where attendees can get a first look at the exhibition and prize winners will be announced.<\/p>\n
The exhibition also provides a way for the community to come together and build connections.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s so important that there\u2019s an event for the community,\u201d said Gerrard. \u201cAs a local artist myself it\u2019s great to have somewhere to exhibit my artwork but also the art exhibition here is a really great community event.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt gives a great opportunity for community groups to get involved so it\u2019s a really inclusive event with groups coming together to make the event happen.\u201d<\/p>\n
Gerrard will also be holding workshops along with Deborah Bourke over the weekend and visitors can get hands on with a range of mediums and ask questions.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll both be working on our own artworks throughout the weekend and we\u2019ll be doing demonstrations and workshops which is new this year,\u201d Gerrard said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ll also have one of my art classes running on the Sunday afternoon.\u201d<\/p>\n
As part of the event Devonshire teas will be on offer, served by the Beaufort Girl Guides.<\/p>\n
