WITH school holidays here, staff at Bannockburn Library are preparing to host activities aimed at keeping kids engaged over the break.<\/p>\n
Three events will be on offer at the library during the two weeks out of class for primary school children.<\/p>\n
Leanne Reinke, the library\u2019s coordinator said the sessions will be a way for kids to stay entertained and educated during the break.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe aim is to provide activities for these kids that offer them some educational opportunities as well as craft and fun and social connection,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cNormally during the school term, we offer activities for pre-school children so the holidays are our opportunity to host programs for the primary-aged kids.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey provide a little bit of creative thinking while giving the kids a safe and accessible place over the break.\u201d<\/p>\n
The World Quest will be the first of the free events, taking place on Tuesday 27 June from 10.30am until 11.30am.<\/p>\n
Two sessions on the Northern Lights will follow, on Thursday 29 June from 10.30am to 11.30am and Tuesday 4 July from 2pm to 3pm.<\/p>\n
The World Quest is open to kids aged eight and older while the Northern Lights activities are for children aged from five and up.<\/p>\n
The program\u2019s theme is Our People, Our World, which Ms Reinke said is about showcasing different cultures around the globe to the children.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s teaching kids about the global wonders of the world and looking at things like different cultures and continents,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThings like the Northern Lights activities, they incorporate culture, science, and creativity and then they can explore further through a craft activity around illuminating colours and exploring that.\u201d<\/p>\n
