THE leading female voice of the global Spanish guitar scene is set to bring her talents to Ballarat.<\/p>\n
Andrea Gonz\u00e1lez Caballero will perform at the Ballaarat Mechanics\u2019 Institute as part of her Six Strings, One Heart<\/em> Australian concert tour on Friday 7 July.<\/p>\n Known as a prodigy, Gonz\u00e1lez Caballero was the youngest guitarist ever to win the prestigious Alhambra International Guitar Competition in Valencia, Spain in 2016.<\/p>\n She said the Ballarat show is not just an opportunity for her to share her art with the community, but to present a part of her culture, and expose local audiences to Spanish composers.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Spanish music is power but also sensibility, and these two components make the audience connect with the music immediately,\u201d Gonzalez Caballero said.<\/p>\n \u201cI am very happy to visit Australia and get to know better the people from each of the cities I will visit.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is my first time in the country and I am eager to discover everything; people, culture, food, landscapes.\u201d<\/p>\n Her set list includes Francisco T\u00e1rrega\u2019s Fantasy on themes from La Traviata<\/em>, F.M. Torroba\u2019s Castles of Spain<\/em>, Manuel de Falla\u2019s Miller\u2019s Dance<\/em> and Spanish Dance La Vida Breve<\/em>, and works by Isaac Alb\u00e9niz.<\/p>\n Gonz\u00e1lez Caballero said she enjoys experimenting when she performs and chases a particular feeling.<\/p>\n \u201cEvery time I go on stage, I try to remember and connect with those moments that I felt I really was into the music,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \u201cIt does not happen every time you want, but there are moments that I feel a connection between me, the instrument and the audience that are special.<\/p>\n \u201cI guess, this is what keeps me motivated to continue evolving and experimenting with the music and the instrument.\u201d<\/p>\n Spanish guitar has a versatile sound and is something Gonz\u00e1lez Caballero said is dear to her countrymen.<\/p>\n \u201cYou can bring to a more chill environment and sing with it, or you can play a classical music repertoire on it,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \u201cI think it is unique because the guitar transmits a pure and warm sound, a very pleasant sound to our ears.\u201d<\/p>\n For those new to the world of classical guitar, Gonz\u00e1lez Caballero recommends they listen to Francisco T\u00e1rrega\u2019s Recuer dos de la Alhambra.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is a captivating, very beautiful, and deep melody,\u201d she said. \u201cI think it is an evocative piece that if you close your eyes, it transports you to Spain.\u201d<\/p>\n Visit bit.ly\/3qTWxta for tickets.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" THE leading female voice of the global Spanish guitar scene is set to bring her talents to Ballarat.
