A SIX-week basketball skills and development program from Dribble Pass Shoot will be beginning in term three at Delacombe Primary School.<\/p>\n
The $120 program will begin on Sunday 23 July and run until Sunday 27 August starting at 1pm for under 10 to 12 and 2pm for under 14 to 16.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s basketball orientated and outside of the square skills,\u201d said founder Marcus Jenkins.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe make sure they\u2019ve got the fundamentals like their dribble technique right and starting to get shooting technique right.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s about building confidence in anyone who comes to the sessions with all ages and all abilities.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jenkins started the business following the COVID-19 pandemic where children couldn\u2019t train and play.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith COVID and everything that happened I wanted to start a local business that was based on community input,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe started with one or two clients who wanted to improve their game and the community has gotten behind it and now we\u2019ve got a group class.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jenkins said has a passion for helping children succeed and sharing his knowledge.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you\u2019ve got a passion it rubs off onto the kids as well,\u201d he said. \u201cThe children that want to work just want to get better and that\u2019s my goal.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t coach kids for today I coach kids for tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n
With his vision for a skilled based baseball program coming to life, Jenkins is thankful for the Ballarat community which has helped plan progress and he\u2019s now focused on giving back.<\/p>\n
\u201cI thank everyone that\u2019s supported me through the community,\u201d he said. \u201cThis business was just a dream six to eight months ago.\u201d<\/p>\n
