YOUNG people who are seeking a new opportunity to volunteer and give back to the community are encouraged to register their interest in a municipal working group.<\/p>\n
Those aged between 12 and 24 years old are eligible to apply to become members of the Golden Plains Shire Youth Activation Committee.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Golden Plains Shire council youth development team is inviting young people who are community minded, advocacy focused and who want to make a positive difference for young people in their communities, to join the Youth Activation Committee,\u201d said Golden Plains Shire manager community wellbeing Emma Wheatland.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese emerging leaders can live, work, study or play in Golden Plains.\u201d<\/p>\n
The aim of the committee is to offer a platform where the voices and perspectives of young people can be shared and heard by Shire councillors and staff.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s also a chance to provide opportunities for young people to develop initiative and to become local community leaders.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Youth Activation Committee will meet fortnightly in a blended environment to plan events and activities that will improve the wellbeing and resilience of young people in Golden Plains,\u201d Ms Wheatland said.<\/p>\n
She said that there is also a goal for the program to complement the objectives of the Golden Plains Shire\u2019s Community Vision 2040 for many years to come.<\/p>\n
\u201cCouncil is committed to delivering programs to ensure young people are connected, resilient and empowered to lead active and fulfilling lives,\u201d Ms Wheatland said.<\/p>\n
