EXTRA money has been announced by the State Government for the Teesdale Oval Upgrade project.<\/p>\n
Member for Eureka, Michaela Settle, was at Don Wallace Recreation Reserve last week to announce a further $250,000 for works at the sit.<\/p>\n
The new money is in addition to the $1.5 million from the the State budget for female-friendly change rooms at the rec reserve.<\/p>\n
The upgrade will involve resizing the oval, installing underground irrigation and drainage, adding new fencing as well as shelters and goal posts.<\/p>\n
More parking areas will also be added improving access to the reserve.<\/p>\n
The Golden Plains Shire will contribute a further $400,000 towards the upgrade which is expected to be finished at the end of 2024.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are creating state-of-the-art facilities and paving the way for increased participation of local women and girls in sports,\u201d said Ms Settle.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese upgrades will be game-changing for Teesdale, allowing local sport to grow at the complex and leave a lasting impact for generations to come.\u201d<\/p>\n
The initial $1.5 million in funding was the result of a Labor Party election commitimnt in 2022 and funding in the May budget as part of an initiative to increase participation in local sports clubs.<\/p>\n
Judi Evans, committee member of Don Wallace Reserve Sporting Complex said the community is excited to receive this funding.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis will give our community the opportunity to promote both male and female sports,\u201d she said. \u201cThese changes will significantly improve the use of our recreation reserve.<\/p>\n
