It\u2019s available from rawhoney.com.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What brought you to Ballarat?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I grew up here, moved away to study and teach, then eventually moved back to work, and now for retirement.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is your favourite spot in the city, and why?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I love the central library, for the diversity of its services &#8211; from books to sessions for parents and youngsters, to music, book clubs, reading areas, etcetera.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is your earliest memory?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Running off to my first day in prep at Mount Pleasant Primary School, with my new stationary in a Corn Flakes box.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is happiness?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Feeling good about some aspect of your world. Nature and people can give me happiness, and it is a gift.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What would you do to make a difference in the world?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I work through Australian Demeter Biodynamics to promote the production of healthy, nutrient-dense, tasty food and healthy soils.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What are you reading, currently?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Sun Walks Down by Australian author Fiona McFarlane. Intriguing structure and narrative voice. Set in the Flinders Ranges in the 19th century.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What do you hope the future might hold for you?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>More of the same.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is the best decision ever you have made?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To have children.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What do you like to cook and why?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Many things. Stir fries with vegetables from the garden. I like to make Portuguese tarts, using the yolks after my partner makes almond bread using the whites. Cooking is a delight.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is your most treasured possession, and why?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A toast rack made by my younger son; and a mattock \u2018donated\u2019 by my older son.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you could ask your pet one question, what would it be?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Woof! No pets but I like dogs. Native birds are more important to me.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What or who inspires you?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The voice referendum. Integrity, support of vulnerable people, humour.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is your favourite quote?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you have a library and a garden, you have all you need\u201d from Cicero.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What qualities do you admire in other people?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kindness and humour.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What was your first job?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Packing and assembling toys at Mathieson\u2019s toy shop in Bridge Mall\/Street in the lead up to Christmas 1966.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What did you want to be when you were growing up?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>No vocational ambition until I stumbled into teaching.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What scares you?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Climate change and the future for our grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What was the name of your favourite teacher and why?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Frank Ritchie. He introduced us to Shakespeare.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What was your favourite toy?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A succession of tennis racquets until garden tools took over.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is your all-time favourite book?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Too hard! Many children\u2019s books.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is your favourite smell?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lily of the valley tree, Daphne, freesias, ginger lily, and Japanese allspice.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is something about you which is still the same as when you were a child?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Curly hair and love of books.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What would your childhood-self think of you today?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I wouldn\u2019t.
