{"id":91543,"date":"2023-07-24T04:55:39","date_gmt":"2023-07-23T18:55:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/?p=91543"},"modified":"2023-07-14T16:58:23","modified_gmt":"2023-07-14T06:58:23","slug":"award-finalists-for-fedtafe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/news\/award-finalists-for-fedtafe\/","title":{"rendered":"Award finalists for FedTAFE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MEMBERS of the Federation TAFE community have been named as finalists in the Victorian Training Awards.<\/p>\n<p>Justin Bisson, a Federation TAFE engineering teacher is a finalist in the Teacher\/Trainer of the Year category, an award that seeks to celebrate innovation and excellence.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Bisson was nominated for his passion for engineering and student-centric approach which involved introducing an entirely online, self-paced course.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love teaching and seeing a students\u2019 face light up when they suddenly \u2018get\u2019 a concept,\u201d said Mr Bisson.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo many teachers have great ideas and do a lot for their courses. We have a passion for teaching and engagement with students and I think when that is captured, we do well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Barbara Muller has been named as a finalist in Vocational Student of the Year category which recognises a student with exceptional achievements in a course.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Muller undertook an Advanced Diploma of Building Design (Architectural), and the nomination celebrates her dedication to her studies, passion, and academic achievement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe level of training at Federation TAFE is of a high standard and the trainers are informative, friendly, knowledgeable and take the time to make sure students understand the learning,\u201d said Ms Muller.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy time studying at Federation has been one of the most enjoyable of my life, so much so that I am continuing my studies to one day return as a vocational trainer and share my passion with others.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Former City of Ballarat young citizen of the year recipient Gabriel Gervasoni is in line for more honours and finalist for Trainee of the Year.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Gervasoni is Diploma of Information Technology and as a vision impaired person is passionate about developing apps and software to help people with disabilities.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_91545\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-91545\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-91545\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2023\/07\/A02I6797-web-600x380.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-91545\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Gabriel Gervasoni has been nominated for the title of Trainee of the Year as part of the Victorian Training Awards. Photo: FILE<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI enjoyed my time studying at Federation TAFE,\u201d he said. \u201cThe teachers were really helpful and knew their stuff.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf I was awarded Trainee of the Year, I would leverage off that to further raise awareness of people with disabilities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Victorian Training Awards seek to honour the best students, teachers, employers, apprentices and education providers in the sector with the finalists announced by Minister for Training And Skills And Higher Education, Gayle Tierney.<\/p>\n<p>Award winners will be announced at a gala dinner on Friday 18 August and will go on to represent Victoria at the 2024 Australian Training Awards.<\/p>\n<p>Winners of the national awards will receive $5000 and a trophy to recognise their achievements.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MEMBERS of the Federation TAFE community have been named as finalists in the Victorian Training Awards.
