THE annual Rokewood Kindergarten trivia night is set to return next week, this time with a throwback theme for a classic decade.<\/p>\n
Set for next Friday at the Rokewood Memorial Hall, much of the evening\u2019s quizzing will be around the 1980s with the traditionally adults-only event offering parents a break from the kids.<\/p>\n
The event is the kinder\u2019s biggest fundraiser of the year, and president Rachelle Carter said it\u2019ll be a fun nostalgic night for most of the family.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople can dress up in anything 80s related\u201d she said. \u201cMost, though not all questions will be based on the 1980s,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have a different theme each year and this one was suggested by a few people.\u201d<\/p>\n
With Trivia with Wheels\u2019 Greg Wheelahan hosting the evening, silent auctions, raffles, and an esky full of free alcohol will be up for grabs as well as prizes for best dressed.<\/p>\n
Cash from the upcoming event will go towards an extended veranda canopy as well as room soundproofing, which is where last year\u2019s cash went as well.<\/p>\n
Funds from previous trivia nights have gone towards a veranda enclosure and toy and equipment maintenance for the students\u2019 play space.<\/p>\n
Ms Carter said the veranda extension is especially important.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen it rains, it\u2019s really slippery. We have a blind for outside where the kids can still play it they\u2019re down,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut they still have to walk up and down the ramp to get to and from the kinder room so they still end up getting wet just to do anything.\u201d<\/p>\n
The previous trivia night raised about $2000 and the event typically raises about $3000 to $4000 each year.<\/p>\n
