THREE Grampians Health nurses will soon see a boost to their careers as recipients of the Albert Coates Memorial Trust Scholarship.<\/p>\n
The health service\u2019s newborn special care nursing staff Belinda Howlett and Casey Moore as well as assistant nursing unit manager Manju Jose are the beneficiaries.<\/p>\n
The scholarship is aimed at supporting nurses studying for qualifications at places like Grampians Health, Federation University, and the University of Melbourne.<\/p>\n
Ms Howlett said the opportunity will be good for her professional development.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am extremely grateful to be a recipient of the Albert Coates Memorial Scholarship in 2023,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cBeing able to work in special care with families and their newborn babies is an absolute privilege, and this scholarship for postgraduate education allows me to further develop my knowledge and skills while building the confidence to deliver outstanding care.\u201d<\/p>\n
Established in 1998 and named after the eponymous Ballarat-born surgeon and soldier, the Albert Coates Memorial Trust scholarship is sponsored through donations from the Leckie Family.<\/p>\n
Trust member Desley Beechey said the scholarship will support specialist care nurses for the next five years.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Albert Coates Memorial Trust and the Leckie family are delighted to continue the vision of Albert Coates in supporting and encouraging excellence in emergency care,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are especially delighted this five-year scholarship is focusing on special care nursery post graduate nursing so enhancing the care of neonates in regional Victoria.\u201d<\/p>\n
GH\u2019s chief nursing and midwifery officer Leanne Shea said the scholarships will allow the nurses to continue expanding their skills.<\/p>\n
