TWO visual creatives based in the region\u2019s south are teaming up to present a shared course for budding artists.<\/p>\n
Running weekly from Thursday 31 August until Thursday 5 October, the series will see Jenny Taberner and Rosslyn Bosnar impart their knowledge in acrylic and watercolour painting respectively.<\/p>\n
Each session is set to be held at the Bannockburn Cultural Centre, and Taberner said it\u2019ll give artists the basics in two different painting styles.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to stimulate the interest we saw during GP Arts\u2019 last Arts Trail,\u201d she said. \u201cBoth Rosslyn and I are passionate about our art and want everyone else to feel the same way.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo many people, I think, feel daunted about doing this sort of thing themselves but if they\u2019ve got someone to lead them along the way, they\u2019re amazed at what they can achieve.\u201d<\/p>\n
Taberner\u2019s teachings will entail a beginner\u2019s project introducing attendees to acrylic paints followed by a second project aimed at teaching people how to mix their colours.<\/p>\n
Bosnar has been an exhibiting artist for about 17 years while Taberner started displaying her outback-inspired works nine years ago.<\/p>\n
Both members of the GP Arts as well as Bannockburn Arts, Bosnar said another aim is to cultivate a stronger arts community in the region\u2019s south.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to see if there\u2019s interested people in the community that aren\u2019t involved in the groups around here,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s to test the waters and see if there\u2019s enough to bring together more small groups. There\u2019s not a lot of art things happening in Bannockburn.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019d like to see a more intensive program here for more people to take part in like having the Bannockburn Hall become a gallery and arts hub.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bosnar said each session can host up six people each and that attendees will need to be able to commit to every class.<\/p>\n
The joint sessions will from 6.30pm until 8.30pm and Taberner\u2019s classes are $30 each while Bosnar\u2019s are $35, with all materials supplied.<\/p>\n
