TURN up the amps, it\u2019s time for the music to play.<\/p>\n
The Golden Plains Youth Battle of the Bands is set for tomorrow, Saturday 26 August at Inverleigh Public Hall, presented by the FReeZA Youth Events Crew.<\/p>\n
Aiming to put up-and-coming young artists in the spotlight, nine acts are on the bill, warming up with a goal for glory, including The Shags, The Schoolyard Misfits, Horse Under the Radar, and Slide My Way.<\/p>\n
Twenty-year-old Marius Hurley-Paul is a member of the local SMW band who are set to perform some original songs, and covers, including Jet\u2019s Get Me Outta Here.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur sound is generally pop-rock, but some of the songs we\u2019ll perform are a little bit punky as well,\u201d Hurley-Paul said. \u201cOur main goal to play music that is authentically produced.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe first prize is a day of recording at Oxygen, so the plan is, fingers crossed, if we can impress the judges with our originals, they might think it\u2019s worth recording them.<\/p>\n
\u201cBattle of the Bands is giving us a chance for a bit of exposure, but it\u2019s also giving us a chance to support other local musos as well, and put them on our social media.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s also an opportunity to support Inverleigh as a country town, so hopefully everyone that comes will go to the general store, service station, or the pub.\u201d<\/p>\n
Also on the line-up are Mr Hyde, Motel Neptune, Grace Terpstra, Star Mailee, and Wild Gloriosa.<\/p>\n
The Golden Plains Youth Battle of the Bands aims to provide a safe, inclusive performance opportunity for people aged 12 to 25.<\/p>\n
Entry is free, and food and drinks will be available. The event will run from 1pm to 5pm on Saturday 26 August at 71 High Street at Inverleigh.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
