WORLD renowned dog listener Tony Knight is coming to Ballarat this September to help owners transform their pets into well behaved animals.<\/p>\n
The course will be held at the Waggery in Delacombe on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 September and Sunday 1 October and will cost $199.<\/p>\n
Since 1999, Mr Knight has been working globally to solve problem dog behaviour without force, pain, domination, drugs or gadgets.<\/p>\n
His love for working with dogs began with his mother.<\/p>\n
\u201cAbout 25 years ago my mother stated working with her own dogs to get a better relationship with them,\u201d said Mr Knight.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt wasn\u2019t until she met Monty Roberts, who\u2019s known as the horse whisperer in the UK, that she suddenly realised what she\u2019d been missing all this time was she\u2019d forgotten that dogs are dogs.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis was the lightbulb moment for mum.\u201d<\/p>\n
From there his mother\u2019s business quickly took off and Mr Knight offered to help her with clients.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe basically became the dog that all other dogs could trust,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople started asking her questions and she got on the radio and then national newspaper and then it went crazy.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe started to panic and said \u2018I can\u2019t see all these people,\u2019 and I said \u2018train me up\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Knight has since gone on to share his skills on television in several countries and is a regular on global radio stations.<\/p>\n
When not travelling the globe, he lives in Beaufort and appears monthly on Ballarat radio.<\/p>\n
The key to Mr Knight\u2019s method is trust, and this will be the focus of the three-day course.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have no problem with people do traditional obedience training but it\u2019s icing on the cake,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou need the cake to support everything and that\u2019s if your dog trusts you.\u201d<\/p>\n
