SPRING has arrived, and with the finer weather comes an annual Golden Plains Shire program of seasonal sports and fitness activities.<\/p>\n
Spring into Summer is back, with instructors, clubs, and community groups on board to host all-ages sessions which will aim to get residents of all fitness levels active between Monday 18 September and Sunday 15 October.<\/p>\n
More than 70 free and paid events are on the calendar, with activities for all ages ranging from tai chi and tennis, to pickleball, fishing, and even a fun\u00a0<\/span>No Lights, No Lycra<\/span>\u00a0inclusive dance night at Bannockburn Cultural Centre.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe Active Golden Plains Spring into Summer program offers people of all ages and abilities a fantastic opportunity to partake in physical activity and connect with the community,\u201d said mayor Cr Brett Cunningham.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a chance for community members to explore new ways of moving and to enjoy diverse activities that promote movement and social interaction.<\/p>\n \u201cI look forward to seeing residents joining in these enjoyable activities, and encourage them to step beyond their comfort zone and try something out of the ordinary.\u201d<\/p>\n Group fitness and Pilates will be offered at Inverleigh on each day of the program, kid\u2019s tennis will run on Wednesdays and Fridays, Kyokusin Karate will be led in Teesdale each Wednesday, yoga will run once a week, as will Smythesdale\u2019s petanque and pickleball sessions.<\/p>\n Those interested in stepping out with a walking group can do so at Smythesdale, Dereel, Bannockburn, Rokewood, Berringa, or Inverleigh.<\/p>\n Visit the shire\u2019s website for the full program or contact 5220 7111.
