{"id":93527,"date":"2023-09-22T04:43:33","date_gmt":"2023-09-21T18:43:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/?p=93527"},"modified":"2023-09-22T11:40:20","modified_gmt":"2023-09-22T01:40:20","slug":"shining-soccer-stars-on-the-rise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/sport\/shining-soccer-stars-on-the-rise\/","title":{"rendered":"Shining soccer stars on the rise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE stars of Ballarat and District Soccer Association have been celebrated at a recent best and fairest presentation.<\/p>\n<p>Ballarat North United Soccer Club won the men\u2019s division one open league, and the best and fairest was Vikings Football Club\u2019s Kuanyjal Tuany, while the senior women\u2019s league winner was Vikings FC, and best and fairest was Freya Niehus.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNorth United won the league this year for the first time since 1985,\u201d BDSA president Herman Bogers said.<\/p>\n<p>In under-16s, league winners were Creswick Cougars Soccer Club maroon, best and fairest was Archie Haworth, and open top goal scorer was Leonard Goodison.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve got lots of talent coming through the juniors which is good for the future,\u201d Bogers said. \u201cThe 12s and 13s are looking exceptional.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_93528\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-93528\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-93528\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2023\/09\/IMG_3735-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2023\/09\/IMG_3735-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2023\/09\/IMG_3735-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2023\/09\/IMG_3735-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2023\/09\/IMG_3735-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2023\/09\/IMG_3735-272x182.jpg 272w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2023\/09\/IMG_3735.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-93528\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The under-12 open league winners for 2023 were Ballarat Soccer Club.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The senior men\u2019s and women\u2019s golden boot awards were given to Nicholoas Johns on 21 goals, and Sali Mould on 31 goals.<\/p>\n<p>Division two\u2019s open league winner was Vikings FC, and best and fairest was Creswick Cougars SC\u2019s Jordan Hayes on 25 votes.<\/p>\n<p>Under-12 open top goal scorers were Liam O&#8217;Keefe and Elsie Nalder, and for under 13, Chase Brasser, while Ballarat SC red won the league, and O\u2019Keefe was best and fairest.<\/p>\n<p>McDonald&#8217;s Ballarat City FC won the under-12 girls comp, and Nalder was best and fairest, while under-13 league winners were Ballarat SC red, and best and fairest was Nicolas Mai.<\/p>\n<p>Top junior and senior referees were Luke Hollingworth and Jason Hekka.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve had a slight increase in players this year, but after the Women\u2019s World Cup, next year there should be a lot more interest,\u201d Bogers said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE stars of Ballarat and District Soccer Association have been celebrated at a recent best and fairest presentation.
