THE Eastern is set to host a local launch for Matt Malone & The Holy Spirits\u2019 new album.<\/p>\n
Described by Malone as a dark gothic country blues record, much of For the Term of My Natural Life was written in Ballarat before being laid down in Doncaster\u2019s True Vine Recording Studio.<\/p>\n
A presenter on community radio station Voice FM, the singer-songwriter said releasing fresh music has felt great after a \u201clong, hard road\u201d of production.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere’s been a lot of blood, sweat and tears, I guess you could say,\u201d Malone said. \u201cI wrote it in the pandemic period so I’m pretty happy that it’s out there.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s doing well for a very dark country record, which isn’t really mainstream or pop orientated.\u201d<\/p>\n
Malone said he\u2019s looking forward to returning to The Eastern on Saturday 14 October at 7pm, with guests and friends The Dead Salesmen Duo, where he has performed tens of times throughout his career.<\/p>\n
\u201cI always love playing with those guys, and getting some old mates together,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve played The Eastern many, many times, and love that it’s very community orientated.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s great to have a venue that has a very local focus and that supports local musicians because Ballarat really needs a live venue that like after the demise of live venues of the past like Babushka Bar and the Bridge Mall Inn.\u201d<\/p>\n
