FEDERATION University leaders celebrated three recipients of their annual alumni awards at a recent presentation night.<\/p>\n
Crypto-tax expert Dr Elizabeth Morton was honoured as a distinguished former student, engineering graduate Abdul Rasuli was recognised for his community service, and Victorian Small Business Ministerial Council chair Stuart Benjamin was named alumnus of the year.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur alumni are supporting communities to prosper and sharing their rich knowledge with the next generation, whether that be in their own regions or across the state and our nation,\u201d said Federation University vice-chancellor and president Professor Duncan Bentley.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are thrilled to recognise this tremendous work through our annual alumni awards and celebrate the lifelong connection our graduates have to Federation.\u201d<\/p>\n
The co-author of the Australian Taxation textbook for undergraduate business, Dr Morton\u2019s work has included taxation research and engagement, a study on how crypto influences the competency of tax professionals, and a Tax Practitioners Board review project.<\/p>\n
Mr Rasuli, who recently completed his diploma of engineering, is an Afghan refugee working to assist other refugees and people seeking asylum to settle safely and comfortably in Australia.<\/p>\n
A Ballarat Afghan Action Group leader, he aims to help people find housing, to access supplies, transport, and friendship, and has been calling for smoother, faster pathways to permanent residency for those on temporary protection visas.<\/p>\n
A University of Ballarat graduate, Mr Benjamin has a Bachelor of Commerce, and certificate IV in building and construction.<\/p>\n
He is the director of Elmstone Property Group, and an advocate for the Ballarat commerce and tourism sectors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
