WITH the theme of \u2018united by water,\u2019 National Water Week was marked last week, acknowledging the vital role the resource plays in connecting communities.<\/p>\n
Central Highlands Water held the annual National Water Week Poster Competition as part of their celebrations, inviting children from preschool age to grade 6 to create an artwork that engages with the concept of water unity.<\/p>\n
\u201cNinety students from seven schools across the CHW service region created colourful, imaginative posters,\u201d a CHW spokesperson said.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom water saving, and watering the garden, to recreational water use and water in the environment, we learnt what this year\u2019s theme means to the students in our region.\u201d<\/p>\n
Winners were awarded across five categories and $100 gift cards and water saving packs went to Yirram Burron Early Learning\u2019s taking the learning\/kindergarten section, and Goodstart ELC Mount Helen named runner up.<\/p>\n
Waubra Primary School\u2019s pupil Ivy won the grade 1 and 2 category, while Wendouree Primary School\u2019s Emerie and Kiwi were respectively first place and runner up of the grade 3 and 4 category.<\/p>\n
In the grade 5 and 6 section, Abbey and Kenzie from Napoleons Primary School were winners, while Waubra Primary School\u2019s Marlie placed second.<\/p>\n
Runners up received $50 voucher and a water saving pack. Isabella and Aylah from Timor Primary School were the respective winner and runner up of the prep\/foundation category.<\/p>\n
Australian Water Association\u2019s National Water Week runs each October and seeks to engage people and groups on the importance of access to clean water.<\/p>\n
\u201cAccess to clean water is hugely important in our daily lives, and it\u2019s up to all of us to protect our water environments and resources, and to use water wisely,\u201d the CHW spokesperson said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
