RUNNERS of all abilities are invited to take part in Wild Mount Trail Run in Buangor State Park this December.<\/p>\n
The event on the Mount Beeripmo Trail began in 2020 and aims to provide a fun weekend in nature to end the Victorian trail running calendar.<\/p>\n
Runners can participate in 21, 11 or five-kilometre courses which allow participants to see the natural scenery of the park.<\/p>\n
Director of Tour de Trails Chris Ord said there is something for everyone at the event.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have all different distances which are all trail runs and are about journeying through nature and enjoying being immersed in the beautiful ranges,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe started the event because the Berripmo trail is a beautiful, beautiful trail.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt goes through waterfalls and up onto the escarpment with beautiful views of the Pyrenees.\u201d<\/p>\n
One of the aims of the event is to allow participants to immerse themselves in nature.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe point of the event is people getting out and enjoying nature in a nice, safe fun away,\u201d said Mr Ord.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s science that the more time we spend in nature the better it is for us physically and mentally.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Ord said trail running is also better on the body as participants are moving on different surfaces and regularly changing directions.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you\u2019re running on a road, you\u2019ve got traffic going by and you\u2019re also pounding the pavement which has a higher impact,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cTrail running is easier on your bones, joints and ligaments and you\u2019re not overstressing one particular group of muscles.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s a particular alchemy about running the trails that comes together and you\u2019ll never run a road again if you don\u2019t have to.\u201d<\/p>\n
