MEMBERS of the Cape Clear Recreation Reserve\u2019s Committee of Management are inviting the community to come together and share some festive cheer.<\/p>\n
From 6pm on Wednesday 20 December, people are invited to come along to the reserve and committee chair Evelyn Cannon said the event is about appreciating each other\u2019s company.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s going to be a gathering, sitting around having a barbecue, some pudding and enjoying the company of neighbours,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have held this before and like a lot of things in the community you start it once and its about getting the word out there.\u201d<\/p>\n
Previous events had been held during the COVID-19 pandemic and Ms Cannon said she hopes more people can come along this year.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe started it during COVID so therefore a lot of people weren\u2019t heading out,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis year we hope it is something everyone can come along to and enjoy being with their neighbours.\u201d<\/p>\n
The committee will be providing sausages, salads, pavlova and Christmas pudding for those who come along.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a really important time of the year for people to forget their differences and be able to smile and laugh together,\u201d said Ms Cannon.<\/p>\n
