THE National Gallery of Victoria, or NGV, is offering free art making workshops at Bannockburn Library this January.<\/p>\n
This is the 10th year of the NGV Kids on Tour program which will visit more than 140 locations across the state.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s about bringing people together across the state to make art, connect with each other and spend time in their local community venues,\u201d said Stephanie Pohlman, senior project coordinator.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt features the work of local and international artists and designers.\u201d<\/p>\n
Activities will include drawing under water creatures, creating lanterns, designing objects based on food, and creating a collage of native Australian plants and animals.<\/p>\n
For teenagers, there will also be sessions about building an art folio and making beaded bracelets.<\/p>\n
Ms Pohlman said one of the reasons for the program\u2019s success is the sense of connection it provides.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s about bringing people together and that process of social connection,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe program is inspired by the ideas of artists and designers, and it shows children that anyone can create something special.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s about igniting the imagination and you don\u2019t need to be an experienced artist.\u201d<\/p>\n
