AN annual event will return to the region later this month with members of the Linton Fire Brigade set to put on their traditional Australia Day breakfast.<\/p>\n
Taking place from 8am at the Linton Recreation Reserve, the brigade\u2019s Captain Gavin Ross said the event is about giving back to the community.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll charge a small fee, around $5, for a bit of a breakfast and a get-together. Any profit we\u2019ll donate this year to the Woady Yaloak Kindergarten,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019ll be a basic breakfast with cereal, toast, bacon and eggs, sausage, also tea and coffee, that sort of thing. It\u2019s hopefully a bit of a mix for everyone.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo be able to get the community involved and together is always a good thing. We enjoy hosting it and from the brigade\u2019s perspective we want to give back to the community.\u201d<\/p>\n
Though the event is not primarily a fundraiser, cash from previous breakfasts have gone towards groups like the Linton Men\u2019s Shed, primary school, and food pantry.<\/p>\n
The results of the town\u2019s community planning survey, launched last year during the Linton Town Wide Garage Sale, are set to be revealed during the event.<\/p>\n
Captain Ross said the breakfast is always a well-attended event for the town.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been going for in excess of well over 10 years,\u201d he said. \u201cWe get usually about 100 people or more so it\u2019s quite a strong community event.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe often get people in the community we don\u2019t generally see who\u2019ll come down for it and see what it\u2019s about. There\u2019s also groups from out of town that will come out.<\/p>\n
