LILY Mae Martin will be at the Art Gallery of Ballarat next Saturday to guide people on how to create drawings from other artworks.<\/p>\n
Her workshop will take place in the Significant Others<\/em> exhibition and attendees will learn the basics of drawing, different techniques, and tricks to finding inspiration in other artworks.<\/p>\n \u201cThere is a long history of going into gallery spaces and students drawing from master art works,\u201d said Martin.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s harking back to a lot of traditional training and practice.\u201d<\/p>\n Martin is a visual creative who graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts in 2008.<\/p>\n Her works are delicate, created with fine liner pens and she said she likes this style as it is accessible to anyone.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve always drawn and pen and paper is just something that is so accessible,\u201d said Martin.<\/p>\n \u201cDrawing is so immediate, and I think for me I just want to draw the picture so I need something that is immediate.\u201d<\/p>\n Martin encouraged anyone to take part in the workshop, even if they are not an experienced drawer.<\/p>\n \u201cA lot of people worry about being good at something, but we are never going to learn anything if we don\u2019t just start,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \u201cParticipants just need to be willing to give everything a go.\u201d<\/p>\n The session will take place on Saturday 3 February from 1pm.
