GENERATIONS of Lethbridge Cricket Club members are set to convene at the clubrooms next month as part of the group\u2019s annual past players day.<\/p>\n
The event will also see the acknowledgement of the club\u2019s A Grade 1973\/74, 1983\/84, 2003\/04 premiership anniversaries.<\/p>\n
Club president Damien Harwood said the event is about showcasing the impact of the past on the present.<\/p>\n
\u201cHaving days like this are wonderful experiences for not only the past players but also the current players,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a great way to recognise former people of the club who\u2019ve contributed in many different ways.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll have our scoreboards and old photos out on display, and I\u2019d expect at least 75 per cent of the premiership players will attend but this event is open to anyone from our past who wants to come along.\u201d<\/p>\n
Among the presentations, the club\u2019s third annual Paddy Scanlon medal will also be awarded to the club\u2019s best A Grade player.<\/p>\n
Established in 1879, the Rosellas currently have three senior mens teams as well as two womens, two junior boys, three under 11s teams, and one junior girls side.<\/p>\n
Mr Harwood said the event will be bolstered by side-by-side matches against Teesdale Cricket Club.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis year we have the unique opportunity where they\u2019ve agreed to play both their first and seconds games at Lethbridge,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat means we\u2019ll have both ovals going at the same time because generally how the system works is that first and seconds games are played on alternate grounds but we\u2019ve got the two side-by-side.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019ll all be running at the same time.\u201d<\/p>\n
Afternoon tea provided will be provided, with a barbecue dinner to be held following the matches.<\/p>\n
The past players and premierships event will run from 12.15pm on Saturday 17 February at the Lethbridge Recreation Reserve.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
