THE perfect event for cheese lovers is on at Hotel Canberra as part of Commerce Ballarat\u2019s Forage and Feast festival.<\/p>\n
Curd Nerds will feature cheese from Meredith Dairy, Goldfields Farmhouse and Long Paddock.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will have three cheesemakers in the room and they will share their philosophy, how their business came about and why cheese,\u201d said Hotel Canberra general manager Pete Dillon.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlong with that out chefs will create a six-course menu using two cheeses from each of those makers.\u201d<\/p>\n
The six-course degustation will be served alongside matched wines.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe beverages are really targeted to sitting alongside what our kitchen is producing,\u201d said Mr Dillon.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s going to be a really exciting combination.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Dillon said highlighting local producers is at the heart of Hotel Canberra.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe did a maker\u2019s dinner at the end of every month during 2023 and in 2024 we wanted to elevate it even further,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are great supporters of the Central Highlands Growers and Producers Hub because we see how important that is for the region and the local food bowl contributes to a strong food economy.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you drop and pin in the centre of Ballarat and draw a circle, you will find incredible producers in every corner.\u201d<\/p>\n
