A BLEND of multicultural European folk music will liven Kilderkin Distillery this weekend and have visitors on their feet.
\nThe Auld Alliance, a Scottish-French folk duo\u00a0made up\u00a0of Graeme McColgan and Amie Br\u00fbl\u00e9e,\u00a0\u00a0played their first-ever show at the venue in early-2023, and are returning on Friday 16 February with\u00a0a\u00a0ukulele, double bass, and their voices.
\n\u201cOne year later, we are coming back to make a toast to the alliance with a good Ballarat whiskey,\u201d Br\u00fbl\u00e9e said.
\n\u201cDrawing inspiration from the rich cultural tapestry of the age-old connection between Scotland and France, the Auld Alliance brings an entertaining blend of upbeat folk songs and beautiful heartfelt ballads from Scotland, Ireland, France, and Australia to Ballarat.
\n\u201cWith a passion for new and old folk music, beautiful melodies and inviting the audience to sing along, Auld Alliance\u2019s warm sounds will transport you across to bonnie Scotland and La Belle France with renditions of\u00a0Caledonia<\/i>,\u00a0Loch Lomond<\/i>,\u00a0La Vie en Rose<\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0Sur Le Pont d\u2019Avignon<\/i>.\u201d
\nThe Scottish flavour of the group is expected to complement Kilderkin\u2019s latest venture, a whiskey.
\nBased in Sydney, McColgan is originally from Glasgow, while Br\u00fbl\u00e9e from Ballarat has French roots.
\nAs an act, they have performed at folk festivals across Australia\u2019s eastern states.
\n\u201cWe met at a festival in Newcastle in late 2022 and with the encouragement of a wee whisky, decided to make some music together,\u201d Br\u00fbl\u00e9e said.
\nHaggis, celtic and French-inspired toasties, and neeps and tatties will also be cooked up.
