CREATIVE limitations are being thrown to the wayside by members of the Ballarat Society of Artists with the group\u2019s latest exhibition all about exploring art without restriction.<\/p>\n
The show, called Anything Goes, launched at the Mercure Ballarat with works to remain on display until Sunday 24 March.<\/p>\n
BSA member Sue Clarke said, as the title suggests, the exhibition will be free of theme or limitations.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur last exhibition at the Mercure was around November and the only dates we could get for this year was now,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo, it\u2019s been a conscious decision to have it be very open because of the timeframe between both.”<\/p>\n
Sixty pieces between 30 group members will be on display for the show which will be held at the Mercure\u2019s gallery and cafe space.<\/p>\n
Clarke is exhibiting two wood block prints, titled Grampians View and Grampians Visited, both of which depict the titular region.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019re both abstract pieces based on the Grampians from a workshop I did up there in September with Grampians Brushes,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had to focus on what was around us to pull different images from the environment.”<\/p>\n
Clarke said she\u2019s enjoyed the lack of limitations in exhibiting her work.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it\u2019s great not to have a theme sometimes because it does give you that freedom,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou get to focus on what you want to do rather than fitting it into a group setting. We\u2019ll have a few new artists who haven\u2019t exhibited with us as well which will be exciting.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
