ORGANISERS behind a free community day in the region are calling out for people to take part in its return.<\/p>\n
Coordinated by the Maude, She Oaks, Steiglitz community planning committee, the event is set to take place once again at Bunjil’s Lookout on 10 November.<\/p>\n
Planning group member Mandy Humpage said the team is looking to fill a range of roles.<\/p>\n
“We’re looking for people who want to have a market stall or join the committee because there’s just a handful of us on the planning committee,” she said.<\/p>\n
“Then if anyone wants to help organise or help run the day, that would be great too. We want to lock people in now because it’s such a busy time of the year with markets and events.”<\/p>\n
Ms Humpage said she has 10 components to this year’s event already locked in.<\/p>\n
Live music, workshops, and children’s entertainment, such as a petting zoo, are set to feature.<\/p>\n
Last year’s event saw more than a dozen stalls and Ms Humpage estimated about 700 people attended.<\/p>\n
She said it’s important those involved with the event are local to the region.<\/p>\n
“Community connectiveness is an important part of this event, so it’s about facilitating that,” she said.<\/p>\n
“It’s that people don’t just live somewhere, they feel connected to their community and in doing so, they want to give back more.”<\/p>\n
