TWO sessions are being held in the Shire aimed to inform stakeholders about the Fair Access Policy.<\/p>\n
The workshops will be held on Monday 15 April at the Well in Smythesdale and Monday 22 April at the Bannockburn Cultural Centre.<\/p>\n
The policy comes as a response to the Victorian Government\u2019s introduction of a Fair Access Policy Roadmap which aims to address barriers preventing women and girls from using local sports infrastructure.<\/p>\n
All Local Government Areas, including Golden Plains Shire, must adopt a Fair Access Policy by July 2024 to qualify for future sporting funding.<\/p>\n
All residents are welcome to attend the sessions, however, Golden Plains Shire staff are specifically asking representatives of local sporting clubs, committees and user groups to attend.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhilst individual clubs and committees are not required to create their own policy, these groups will need to demonstrate and\/or implement actions that deliver on the six principles of fair access under the roadmap, especially if seeking future State Government support or funding,\u201d said a Golden Plains Shire spokesperson.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe sessions will explain the six principles and provide practical information to support community entities in removing barriers or progressing actions to implement them, thus ensuring they are creating safe, welcoming and inclusive environments for all.\u201d<\/p>\n
A draft policy it set to be put before council at the next meeting in April and the community can provide feedback.<\/p>\n
